Official start to Vacation
Cool off here
We had a great time, there's a lot to unravel... I will do a highlight for now, then break it down and give more detail information later on, helpful tidbits of information for those looking to plan their own adventure out at sea.
Feel free to ask any questions you may have. I will try my very best to be insightful with my response.

Recall I said vacation is about adjusting your expectation and then going with the flow?.... Here is a perfect example that demonstrates this:
On my way to the airport I received an email from the airline informing us of a last minute gate change. Arriving at the airport, I printed our boarding passes, dropped off our luggage and had breakfast at the Premium Plaza Lounge.
Upon boarding the airplane I came to realized our seats were upgraded!(initially my jaw dropped, then came the excitement). While checking in at my Hotel in Orlando, a similar sequence of events happened... I was upgraded from a regular room to a nice Studio (big jaw drop, more excitement). I thought I used up all my blessings for the day, but no, mine wasn't done yet...to top it all off, my son paid for dinner, BONUS!!!! Family Photo
Wait for it, just wait for it? While checking in for my return flight, the app keeping give me an error message and advised a check-in at the airport. When I received my boarding pass at the airport I realized our seats were downgraded due to an Air plane change. Apparently, they didn't have the class my flight was booked into. Then came the email explaining the reasons, with an apology and a form attached to apply for partial refund.
I want to hear your thoughts on this matter. How would you feel about that?... Is this where you accept the chain of events as fair trade or applied for the partial refund offered by the airline? Do you feel there is any similarities in the sequence of events or do you feel like one had nothing to do with the other? Weigh in on your thoughts....Should you always applied for refunds offer?
I would like everyone to weigh in, what do you feel would be the right decision for you, and tell me why you would choose that option....
Which way would you say your pendulum should swing?
While you're pondering your option, I'll like to leave you with this Pro tip..
If you own an American Express Gold card, a CIBC or TD Infinite visa card, you receive 4 free passes yearly to access the Premium Plaza Lounge at Toronto Airport. There you can got a bite to eat, use free the Wifi and lounge around in comfort. Not to mentioned the benefits of travel insurance at a cheaper premium than the cost of just one trip. You guess it, you get multiple travelling coverage the entire year, as long as you own the card, all for the same price.
Until next time my fellow adventure seekers, enjoy discovering your own delights!

Loved this post Leona!! Especially the video, looks like a great time.
ReplyDeleteChrissy, Thanks for the feedback and for following along.
DeleteWow looks like this was a great trip!
ReplyDeleteI never knew about the perks from all these credit card companies and will experience getting things for free. Thank you for the tip.
I just did not like how the company just gave partial refund for the downgrade. People have a mindset that after the great trip, one is looking forward to another great experience of ride and accommodation going home. The company should have given full refund for the short notice inconvenience and it’s not just about the money spent, but anticipation of having to experience comfort.
Chinnie, That you for the wonderful feedback.. You made some great points..
DeleteYou're absolutely correct, a disappointment can overshadow an otherwise fantastic experience. Hopefully we can bring awareness to this fact and thereby changing the narratives.
Looks like you had an amazing adventure, Leona! It's always the best surprise when you get upgraded. In my opinion, the airline should have automatically given you a refund for the downgraded seats. Love all the options for entertainment and fun on the cruise! Can't wait to see where your next adventure takes us! - Emma
ReplyDeleteEmma, Thank you and and love the feedback. Currently, Cruiselines have a policy where any missed ports of call, the port charges and taxes are automatically refunded. Maybe in the not too distance future, Airlines may start adopting a similar policy.

ReplyDeleteLeona, Errol and family,
What an amazing voyage! Seeing the pictures and videos makes me want to take a cruise with Sasha! This coming from someone who’s deeply afraid of the sea too.
It certainly rained blessings on you and your family, but you deserve nothing short of blessings. I think the downgrade of seats is the universe levelling out your luck, as unfortunate as that was. But always take the refund! You were suppose to have superior seating so it’s definitely within your right to be compensated for the inconvenience.
I just love seeing pictures of your trips, and I look forward to seeing more content from you Mrs Leona.

I had no idea they were allowed to downgrade people like that on planes 😠that shouldn’t be illegal
